mysticmomma
I'm looking for something to use for next year. Kids will be 1st (no geography yet), 4th and 6th (did galloping the globe two or three years ago). We didn't like Evan Moore's daily geography when we used it a few years back. It felt too much like busy work and my older will just blow through something like that filling in the blanks and not retain anything. Ideally it would be easily scheduled once or twice a week and take less than 30 minutes. Am I searching for a unicorn?! Shoes+Ships+SealingWax
Following! I'm looking for something for my K'er next year. Currently planning on starting with an introduction to map work & then moving onto Montessori-style continent studies. Has anyone used the DK Geography workbooks? They seen decent, if a bit simple. I am considering using them (up a level) as a supplement.
SilverMoon
You could do Trail Guide to World Geography twice a week easily enough. There are three skill levels of questions, so the little one could be involved too. They're intended to be done daily, but you could do them all in one longer setting. The second part of the lesson has mapping assignments and other random points of interest to choose from for researching further. Just pick the parts you want to do and skip the rest. It's designed for you to just pick parts of it so you can repeat the whole book later on.
