All I can say is "WOW!" We are doing VT for the second time, and it is amazing. The new VT technician (not sure of her title, not the COVD member, the person we actually work with on a day-to-day basis) is beyond brilliant. She is hitting things from so many angles, it's mind blowing. One of his exercises this month is working on integrating a retained primitive reflex (STNR) while practicing tracking, near/far focusing, and working with metronome. Another is tracking to metronome, crossing the midline, and remembering a sequence. He's also working on bouncing a ball and clapping, but to a beat. It is like every VT exercise he has done in the past on steroids and caffeine.

Yes, I'm bribing the crap out of my 10 year old. He fusses about VT some nights, but golly, he's just blossoming.

It's brilliant. It's exactly what he needs. I love this service provider!

[Not sure why I feel compelled to post this. It's just so darn refreshing to be excited about a provider!]

We have a great VT provider too. It's an awesome feeling and just so nice to have been able to watch my kids change and flourish. Did you take any videos of the "before" with reflexes? I wish we would have. It was that dramatic. (I am not sure what you'd video for STNR, except maybe the work, but we could have shot footage of the Moro reflex/duck and pigeon walking.)

I really should have. We worked on Moro reflex integration last month and while I didn't shoot video, the memory of him starting and jerking is pretty much seared in my mind. He now does a rather beautiful starfish!  :coolgleamA:

You're probably going to get some EF bumps with all that metronome work too.  And his language should work better.  This is just stellar therapy, integrating things.  I'll bet you see results for some time to come, with changes you weren't even anticipating.  So happy for you!  :)

Tonight DS10 spelled "BRIGHT" at dinner. I asked him how he remembered the word and he responded that he saw the letters in his mind. Never in a million years would I have thought this possible.

Total game changer.

ETA: This is the kid who can't reliably spell our last name, which has five letters...

Wow!

Can I ask how long it started before you noticed changes?

Our son is about five sessions in with his VT, and I'm anxiously waiting to notice some!

We are in week 10, but only do appointments once a month. I think the big thing has been primitive reflex integration and the layering of therapies. Our first round of vision therapy didn't have nearly the impact, but the prior clinic had a very different approach.
