Night Elf Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 What is a Baccalaureate service? I didn't attend mine in high school. My dd is graduating this year and the info says this service is optional. It's being held in a church and is non-denominational. My dd isn't religious in the least bit. I can't imagine she would want to go to a church for this. Quote
bettyandbob Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 That's pretty much it. I went to mine over thirty years ago. It was at the public school back then. A rabbi from a reform congregation led it. I don't think public schools in my district have them anymore. My dds school isn't. If it were an option, I'd let my dd decide about going. Quote
Guest Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 It is a religious service preceding graduation, blessing the students and thanking God for their accomplishment. It used to be part and parcel of the ceremonies around graduation. Nowadays, churches independent of the schools offer the service for those who are interested. In these situations, it is not linked to specific schools or even neighborhoods. Quote
Night Elf Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Thank you. It's definitely not something she would be interested in. Quote
