AEC
Planning 9th grade - our first year of HS. Want to ensure we don't schedule a vacation or something of a specific date that's important. What I've got so far: AMC10 Feb 7, 2017 or Feb 15, 2017 AP HG May 12 any reason he should take the ACT or SAT or PSAT freshman year? For reference, the current plan for classes is: Alg2 (AoPS) Chemistry (Chang) History (HotWM) English (??) AP HumanGeo (Rubenstein, the AP version) German (??) Woodland Mist Academy
Some states require yearly testing. The ACT and/or SAT might meet the testing criteria, depending on the state. Also, some students take the SAT/ACT early for practice or to qualify for various programs or classes. Otherwise, there probably isn't a reason. If the student is considering taking any SAT Subject tests, you might want to check those dates as well. I wish I had penciled in the SAT Subject test dates for three of the classes my oldest took last year in 9th. I didn't think of it until toward the end of the year, and by then we had already scheduled a vacation. They missed the SAT Subject tests that they could/should have taken last year. Now they've got four subject exams and at least one AP exam this year, two of which would probably have been better taken last year. And the usual disclaimer...... Having/not having SAT subject exam scores is not the end of the world, but they are one outside verification of grades that our family would like to have.
