Laura Corin Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 If someone (female, middle aged) had a birthday when they had to go to work (ordinary office job) how would you make their day special? The evening is a bit complicated for family reasons, so a special meal/cake will wait until the following weekend, as will family presents. So: any fun, relaxing ideas for 7am to 5pm? Quote
Mama Geek Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Flowers are pretty typical, take her out to lunch 3 Quote
marbel Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 What Mama Geek and Rosie said - have something fun delivered - flowers, balloons, cookie or fruit bouquet - a nice lunch out, and cake for all. Pretty much what happened in my workplaces when people had birthdays. 2 Quote

The only thing that I could think of was a new pot of handcream so that she would be surrounded by a fresh and lovely smell all day. 2 Quote
Rachel Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 My sisters birthday is near Christmas, when she came to work on her birthday coworkers had wrapped her entire cubicle in wrapping paper. It was a cute and fun prank of sorts. They filled another coworker's office with balloons on their birthday. Of course this depends on the culture of the office but it really fits my sister. 1 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 (edited) A nice mug and a favorite type of tea or hot chocolate or coffee. Something that is more special than the usual office food supplies found in the break room. Edited March 29, 2016 by Jean in Newcastle 4 Quote
J-rap Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I've seen ads for singers for hire who come in and sing Happy Birthday to the recipient. That might be fun! 1 Quote

Just don't hire the singing male stripper that they hired at one work place I worked many years ago. . . boy, was that awkward! (Fortunately they didn't hire him for me. . .) 3 Quote
heartlikealion Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Can they get lunch at the office? If you can't eat lunch with them, maybe food could be delivered (give them a heads up?). When I worked in an office we always bought each other cake that we all shared. Anyone in the office maybe doing something? 1 Quote
heartlikealion Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Unusual? Lol Order pizza online with written directions to draw a picture on the pizza box? I've seen this online... I don't know if people really do it! Quote
