SKL Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 This never happens to me. I have been out of it since Sunday. Sinus infection and some woman stuff. I can't take a bunch of time off - I have too much work to do. So I am trying to force myself to get to work, but every time I think about it I feel a headache forming and sweat and lower back pain starting and ugh.... Do you have any tricks to make yourself able to work when you are sick? I can't do any exercise. I went off coffee for a couple days, but right now I'm drinking a cup to see if that helps. Herbal tea just made me lazy. :) Quote
Valley Girl Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 This isn't what you want to hear (I wouldn't either!), but sometimes you just have to give your body time to rest and recover and let the work wait. Tha's hard when you have a lot of things--both personal and professional--on the to-do list. Can you delegate anything to coworkers? Reschedule anything? Have you seen a doctor for the sinus infection? It sounds like you're trying to push yourself when you're just too sick and miserable to do it. I hope you feel better. 1 Quote
hornblower Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Advil & a glass of water. Sometimes a nice balanced meal of a complex carb & a bit of protein can provide a bost too. Or just go for sugar but then I have to work fast because I will crash.... & then either pomodoro technique (set a timer for 20 min concentrated work & then take 5 min off, repeat...) or the "touch once" technique. Make list of things that need doing & pledge to just "touch" each item on the list. It's to get you started; often once you start, you'll keep going & just finish but giving yourself permission to just touch once & walk away can help with the resistance to getting started Quote
Tap Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Pain meds like Aleve to get rid of any aches, and a good dose of caffeine. Excedrine combines tylenol, aspirin and caffiene if you dont' want a coffee/tea/cola. Then protein for energy (I get lethargic on too many carbs, but nuts are a great snack for me) and lots of liquids to keep me hydrated. Edited March 23, 2016 by Tap Quote
