*just* to look at them.  you need me as a customer more than I need you as a merchant.  dufus.

I hate those sites, but I"m seeing them more and more.

going back to the days when merchants wouldnt' allow a customer to actually browse - which might lead to the customer seeing something they didn't know they wanted to buy,   so, save me some money.

I also just close the tab when a site puts one of those full page ads, or "sign up for our newsletter" overlays where you have to search for the x button, or if the overlay pops up every time I click on something.

I have a junk e-mail address that I use for anything like that or for anything that I think is just going to spam me with e-mail I don't want... I never look at that address and people are always so happy for me to give it to them.... Heeheee!!

I just tried to access a recipe on a site that did this to me. You had to sign up for free membership with their site just to look - I think it was Yummly? I was astonished. Don't they  know how many other sites offer recipes online? But I guess somebody does it.

This is why I don't understand the obsession with Zulily. I tried to look once, but couldn't look because I wouldn't give them my email address first. They lost a potential customer. FWIW, I loathe shopping, IRL, so shop online as much as possible. But not at sites like that.

It's getting worse all the time. All these "how to grow your internet business" spreading crappy information. But there are too many who don't stop to question motives and just give in and spread their info everywhere, so it works. Those full page pop ups lose their site a reader in a hurry, too. I don't visit many places on the net anymore due to how incredibly annoying it has gotten - and that's WITH blocking software.

yes.  they do that for recipes.  I just go somewhere else.  multiple sites will have the exact same recipe.  it's not like I can't get it somewhere else.

I had some pop-up ads from them and I thought the tunics looked interesting. the local mall closed their store.  so, I won't be buying from them.

I have a seperate junk e-mail address - but I don't want to give it out to everyone.  joann's tried to get my cell # so they could text me coupon codes.  (oh, we don't share it.)  uh, no.  I'm willing to give you a junk e-mail addy - NOT my phone #

I have a junk email address.  I wish I would have thought to name it what my friend named hers:  (hermiddlename).crap-account@blah blah blah

Totally true!

I don't mind the email required ones anymore because of this, but the ones where you have to *register*...eat my dusty pixels.

I have one that is named something similar. Like junkletters@.....com But using different words for junk and letters. It still chaps my hide that sites require it before you can even look, so I won't shop those places on principle. :)
