Wedding Present ideas?? Out of the box ideas welcome (not literally LOL)

So wedding is Fri night and I have a garage sale this weekend, so time is short. Amazon links would be great. Not GCs or cash. New bride, long time bachelor, he works lots of hours, she will be teaching school. 

My go to is "tea for two": nice teas, mugs, biscuits, nice reusable basket for fruit or something. But he is diabetic so the biscuits would be a no go. Plus I don't have a lot of time to run around and put it together.

The wedding will be HUNDREDS of families, so I am looking for something unique (ie not duplicated, so no blenders, food processors, serving ware. I will of course include a gift receipt).

What about a couple of games like Forbidden Island, Carcassone, etc. that can be played by 2 or more? Amazon has them, but Target has a nice game section now and returns would be easier there. Game night basket with some popcorn and a cozy throw?

If they have outdoor space, bird feeder, birdhouse, &/or bird bath? If you get a bird feeder, some bird seed or suet cakes would be good to go w/ it (depending on the type of feeder).

I actually did this in a laundry basket for another couple. But they were both coming from their family's home to their 1st apartment. She loved it.

 

I was thinking a box of NICE kitchen stuff, like things you wouldn't usually buy yourself for a new kitchen: baking mats, good measuring cups\spoons, roasting rack, good baking trays, nice spatulas,etc. Any favorite kitchen gadgets?

 

I mean when dh and I married we wernt and spent a couple hundred on basic kitchen stuff in an afternoon since both of us had never lived on our own before and most of it was not the best quality iykwim.

My go to gift for weddings is a box of Penzy's spices.  I usually pick them myself since I know the person I am buying them for, but they have premade boxes that would be a super easy grab and go (if you have a store nearby).  If I really like the person, I buy them a nice casserole dish (usually LeCreuset) and make a presentation with a coordinating dish towel for a liner.  I use the baking dish like a gift basket and fill it in with tissue or more hand towels, and then the spices. 

 

If I don't want to buy them a casserole dish, then I often buy a cute dish from TJ Maxx or Ross that would be good for a baked dip or something, and use that like a basket instead.

We gave a couple of good quality folding lawn chairs as a wedding gift and they love them. The couple had lawn chairs on their registry, but even if they didn't I might have gone with a gift along those lines anyway. The kitchen/household stuff was covered so completely that it made sense to go beyond traditional gifts since we didn't want to do cash.

We have a favorite localish potter from whom we have bought many, many items for our kitchen, plus a few gifts for other people.  We have plates, mugs, pitchers, apple bakers, utensil crock, fancy serving platters. . .

Casserole dish and insulated carrier.  To make it special, you could add a favorite recipe and some of the non-perishable ingredients.

I second the cooler. We're still using the one we received as a shower gift. It's something people who already have a household may still need...and an extra one always comes in handy.

There is a potter I like here and I often go to her shop for unique gifts.  I think the most popular have been a berry bowl - it is for holding delicate berries and has holes for the juice to come out and allow air circulation, and it sits on a little plate, and a salt pig.  Personally I love salt pigs especially if they are a fun design, they are very convienient for cooking.

We got a set of two matching sleeping bags almost twenty years ago.  We still have and I still smile.  The couple knew we loved to camp.

The wedding presents we are still using 15 years later are nice camp chairs, a cooler, knife set, and a beautiful crystal cake stand.

 

We didn't register for China and while we still have some dishes and other random kitchen gear, most of it is in need of replacing now.

Picture frames, silver or white ones so they go with everything. We were married about 10 yrs. before we got around to picking out frames and hanging up some wedding photos. LOL.

 

We have given them before, and it has been wildly popular.

Someone on another message board put together an "In Sickness and in Health" basket, and filled it with cold medicine, Tylenol, Kleenex, soup, etc., plus some card games and coloring books. The basket was very well received, likely do to the fact that the couple got sick within a few weeks of the wedding, lol.

A sturdy folding card table and a pretty tablecloth and napkins set for it would always be useful, and it's not a common gift.

Thanks everyone! I am liking the cooler/camp chairs idea! Most of our mosque meet every sun pm at a large local park, so that could work! I knew the hive mind could come up with something. :)

I once worked an auction where this folding table in a bag (for picnics), plus some assorted accessories, went for approximately 4X it's value. It's nice!
