ProudGrandma Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I just started my current 9th grader in the 8th grade level EIW. (Essentials in Writing) We hare having great success and I love the program. What I would like to know is, is it necessary to use EIW all the way through High School...or at some point is it really not needed and the kids can focus on a different subject? Looking at the TOC in each level, it appears to be more of the same, although I am sure they add something each year, but is it super helpful to keep it going? So if you have used it all the way through, I would love to hear from you. If you didn't or wish you would have, I would also love to hear from you. thanks. Quote
NoPlaceLikeHome Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 (edited) You could get a professional opinion on her writing to see where she is at. For example WTM Academy has a writing tutor we used and I believe she can evaluate her writing. Also the academy ha a mentor mom that can advise you about homeschool plans. As for writing, it really benefits students for their college times and in their jobs. You can never lose out by developing strong writing skills. Are you covering literature, literary analysis, grammar, and vocabulary? Edited March 19, 2016 by NoPlaceLikeHome Quote
Hilltopmom Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 We're on year two of high school EIW & I feel like he's at the max he's going to get from EIW & me. We just started Bravewriter classes & plan to use their exp. essay writing, research paper class, & college application essay Then, move into DE composition at CC. Maybe a technical writing class in there somewhere. Quote
