Guest Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 This year we are completing US history through John Adams for 3rd and 5th grade. I had planned to continue next year with TOG Yr. 3 and then Yr. 4 before hitting ancients again. However, I just got a whole TOG year 1 year plan and I'm wondering if I should just hold it until we get there or if I should re-start our history cycle early. I'm thinking of maybe doing a very compact modern history unit study in late spring/early summer or just having ds read SOTW 4 over the summer and then going back to ancients in the fall. We have really just jumped around in history so far, although they haven't done modern yet. Any thoughts? Quote
Chris in VA Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I would do SOTW 4 next year with both kids, adding in a little extra research for the 6th grader. The year after that, I would start TOG 1 with both, using the Upper Elem level for the younger child and the Dialectic level for the older. I would do all 4 years in a row, at theappropriate level. Then, for Jr. Year for your eldest, start over with Ancients at the Rhetoric level. (And continue the sequence at the appropriate level with the younger, too.) That way your oldest will have all 4 years of the rotation at the Rhetoric level. Quote
