I got it based on Lecka's recommendation and spent a good afternoon going through it, marking with post-it flags the various sections where we're ready to start.  When the intervention specialist came to review what we've been doing, I showed it to her.  She said it fit exactly with where she was saying to go and looked terrific.

It is not mean to be a complete language arts curriculum but is rather meant to fill skill gaps kids with ASD and other developmental disorders will typically have.  So for instance pesky things like how to know whether something is a detail or the main topic, analogies, conversation skills, outlining, just tons and tons of things.  They explore how to fill in the language gaps affecting their ability to do MATH!  That's huge here.  I couldn't figure out why coins weren't working for him, then I read their section on money math and it made sense.

So if you *need* it, it's excellent.  Is it the only thing or best thing?  Well mercy, there's always another option.  Their *perspective* however is unique, because they're trying to, in a thorough way, address the major language skill deficits that would hinder them.  They show how to make language more visual.  I found the *thought process* as instructive as the book.

Maybe there are samples or at least a toc online?  Once I got it, I shelved it, not really knowing what to do with it.  My ds wasn't ready.  He's ready now.  It's not flashy, and it's not games.  If you want games, go to Linguisystems or Super Duper.  This is more if I've got to teach this kid time or money or outlining or summarizing or whatever and it's NOT CLICKING, then WHAT is wrong, what is the gap, and how to I fill it.
