bettyandbob Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I have not had to apply to a job this way before. I'm looking at government jobs dot com (local government postings). Is it better to submit a PDF or should I do the individual steps? I'm not on linkdin. 1 Quote
Lanny Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 If they permit a .PDF file I would prefer that, because they will see it the way you intended it to be seen. If not, submit a .DOCX (MS WORD) document. If they want you to check off the experience you have in a Drop Down list or something, and you would like to have the job, take the time to do all the steps. If you have the right experience, you will pop up in their searches, if you take the time to do it correctly. I would want them to have both my resume and any information I want to pop up I would take the time to submit it properly. GL 1 Quote
G5052 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I assume you mean an online form? Always do the online form if they have that. Some agencies dump that into a database and use the fields to electronically sort the candidates. If they give you an option of uploading a resume, a PDF is fine there. Some state jobs have hundreds of applicants, and the database is a must. At the college where I now work, I was told that there were over 300 applicants for the subject I teach when I was hired. I also uploaded a resume. Quote
