EmilyGF
Well, I hit the February doldrums. Then I had 4 weeks of extended family at my house to help with the new baby who was born during that time. Now we're supposed to start school again and I am so not ready. :-( We did math most of the last two weeks, as well as daily instrument practice, but now we're supposed to get back into the hard stuff every.single.day. Preschooler is going crazy indoors and I'm not ready to venture out regularly. Sigh. Preschooler got stomach flu last night, too, though he seems better now. Want to give me a kick in the pants? Or commisserate? Emily
Hobbes
Commiserating. :) My newborn is just a week old, so I'm not doing anything school yet and my husband is home to help. But it's grey outside, the kids need to run, and I'm wondering in the back of my mind exactly how school, etc, is going to work with the toddler, etc! Thankfully, spring is almost here... we can do it!
Another Lynn
:grouphug: Feel free to wait another week if you need to. After that, don't add back everything all at once. Add a new subject in each week. Also, look for ways to streamline what you were doing before, especially content subjects. SOTW? Let them listen to the cd as they fall asleep. Science? - maybe it's time to relax it - do nature study with a sketch pad w/ color pencils.
fourisenough
I say take another week or two off. Life will go on...
wintermom
I think getting outdoors will do you good. It's getting warmer even way up here in Canada, so everyone is trying to take advantage of the melting snow, clear roads, etc. Bundle up the baby and get fresh air for everyone, even if it's just 10 - 15 minutes of sunshine. Congratulations on the new addition!
Hilltopmom
I'll give you permission to take a few months off & let the school age kids unschool, watch a bunch of movies, & play ganes while waiting for spring:)
mamiof5
Commiserate. Start when you feel ready, and yes, not everything at the same time. Do you have a library nearby? Maybe hubby can pick up some educational videos? Books? Reading, educational videos, whatever takes you through this first months with baby. Congratulations! Kristie in Florida
My baby is a week old and we are potentially starting just math back up in about two weeks. I hear ya. We'd love more time off but it would mess up our summer.
RootAnn
I agree with everyone else. Give yourself permission to just do math until you feel like adding one more subject (not one for each kid!). When that feels do-able, add another. After my new babies, I would add math, then a fun subject, then a not-fun subject, then a fun one. I don't have any Spring babies, so I always had time to ramp back up before the end of the school year. If you don't get more than a couple subjects in before summer hits, pat yourself on the back for doing them & then roll into summer. Get a nap when you can!

Or commisserate? Emily Emily, Have you ever listened to the Morning Basket podcasts? If not, I'd consider March a teacher in-service month. Then I'd listen to the podcasts for inspiration. Then I'd start up again, SUPER gentle - just morning basket while you snuggle a precious new baby. :) (Oh, and 1 February baby, 2 March, and 1 April) LOL. ;) Edited March 13, 2016 by BlsdMama
Monica_in_Switzerland
I wouldn't do anything until after Easter, personally... But maybe that's just me trying to convert people to my slacker-y ways. :-)
