We were talking about renovating our kitchen and DH mentioned that he likes the look of the IKEA Hallviken sink. It is a black quartz composite.

Does anyone have experience with this sink or any other black quartz composite sinks? I've only ever used stainless steel sinks.

I purchased a black quartz sink in a prior home renovation.

Things I liked:

1. it was deep

2. it was a good contrast to my grey quartz countertops & marble backsplash

3. it did not get marks or dents from my cast iron dishes

Things I did not like:

1. it showed water droplets if allowed to dry (hard water deposits from the water)

2. I had a small chip from installation. It really wasn't noticeable, but it is possible to damage the sink---just like stainless steel dents

I had a silgranite sink - which is a composite.

it developed a heat crack from draining pasta water.  when I bought my sink - it had a lifetime warranty against defects, so it was covered.  now - heat damage is not covered at all - which indicates it's a 'not' UNcommon problem.

 Now I'm not feeling so confident about the Ikea's 25 year warranty.
