AnnE-girl Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 We're trying to get our house on the market in less than two weeks. The market is really picking up and we need to get going so we're in a position to put an offer on the next house we really want since the one I loved already went under contract. Anyway...our realtor strongly suggested we remove the partially pealing wallpaper in our bathroom and paint it. We've started tearing down the paper, but we still need to choose a paint color. The tub, toilet, and counter are off white/light beige and the woodwork is fairly dark, including a chair rail. What neutral color do we put in there? We're also painting our living room and connecting hallway another neutral color. It's currently a dark green, but needs freshening up after the kids decided to play "Wreck this House" with the hammers they got for Christmas a couple of years ago. The walk was patched but the paint wasn't mixed exactly, so it looks bad. The trim is white, so I was thinking of a light grey instead of the common beige, but is that neutral enough? It also needs to look nice next to our butter yellow kitchen. 1 Quote
zoobie Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) SW Sea Salt is a green-blue-gray neutral-ish color that's very pretty. Revere Pewter is a popular gray-beige. Edited March 7, 2016 by zoobie Quote
Alisa in Florida Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Revere Pewter is a popular gray-beige. I just painted most of my house with Revere Pewter. I was skeptical, but I love it now that it's done. It has a way of looking different in different light, so it's not boring. It really does go with anything. Quote
AnnE-girl Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 Thanks for the suggestions! I'll look for those. Quote
Lanny Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 No answers to your questions, but IMO your title for this thread is awesome. You should be a Writer! Great title for a book! You have the title, now you need to write the book! 1 Quote
Sara in AZ Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 SW Sea Salt is a green-blue-gray neutral-ish color that's very pretty. Revere Pewter is a popular gray-beige. I LOVE Sea Salt! We sold a house last year, and we had almost the whole house done in that shade. Quote
PrairieSong Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 You got some good suggestions for paint colors. I'd also suggest taking down the chair rail before you paint. We had a chair rail in our dining room with two different kinds of wallpaper above and below it. I'm so glad we took it down when we removed the wallpaper, and painted the whole room one color. Quote
aggieamy Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I have no suggestions on color but I really had to laugh at the title. Last weekend my best friend came over and wallpapered my downstairs bathroom. I love it and told my husband I can't wait to wallpaper another room. 1 Quote

Happy Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Wall paper is EVIL! It's outdated 20 minutes after it's put on the walls. Never put wall paper on a wall! I'm about to paint my bathroom Sea Salt, if that helps any. I love Revere Pewter. Quote
Dmmetler Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 DD and I are going to a conference next weekend . DH is threatening to take the peeling wallpaper off the dining room walls (currently housing Legos and a corn snake) and relaxing while we're gone. He's been asking me what color I want, so this is timely. Quote
