Immersion Reading in Kindle App on iPad, not just Kindle device

I just noticed that Amazon updated its Kindle App for iPad to include immersion reading!

 

Previously you had to have a Kindle device in order to get immersion reading.

A few years ago, I almost got a Kindle device just to get immersion reading,

even though we already had iPads, because my younger DD didn't like reading.

She can read now, but I thought I'd pass the info on for anyone else in a similar situation.

 

(Immersion reading is when you have the ebook and the Audible narration, and

the the words are highlighted as they are spoken in real-time. It is helpful

for beginning readers and others who struggle with reading.)

If you have Kindle Unlimited, and the book is available on Audible, a KU checkout automatically downloads both, too :).

It is also available for Android. So far I don't see it in my Windows 10 app.

I just updated the app but the words aren't highlighting. Any idea how to get it working?

On some of my devices the words do not highlight, but the pages do turn. I actually prefer that.

 

I think for the most part that iPad doesn't highlight and Android does.

If the font is large, the pages turn more often. That makes it harder for a beginner reader to get lost in the text.
