mamakelly
I'm buying an iPad to use for scrapbooking (Digital Life app) and for school. We've never had an iPad, any suggestions? Edited March 7, 2016 by mamakelly
KatieJ
I have an iPad mini. I would buy a bigger one if it was my choice. Mine was a gift.
Arcadia
My kids like their iPads for bringing out but my iPad Pro for using at home. The screen size of the ipad pro is lovely for ebooks. ETA: I have the 128gb ipad pro and it was nice to not worry about running out of storage space. My kids have the older 16gb ipad which runs out of space fast. alisoncooks
I love my iPad but we got a 16G (I think) and that is my only regret. Not enough space on it -- we've had to balance apps and pictures and stuff, constantly deleting things (and we don't have that much on there).
ErinE
Buy the one with the most memory. The two iPads we were given had the smallest memory possible and neither can hold a movie, which are the iPads' primary uses when we're on long road/air trips. If you are using it for digital scrapbooking, purchase the larger size. I love the mini as it fits well in my purse, but I use it for reading books or browsing the web. The size is even fine for watching limited amounts of television. I don't think it would work for finer work, like scrapbooking as I feel it causes eyestrain. My DH only uses the larger iPad as the mini hurts his eyes.
JanetC
The choice of a mini, "middle size", or Pro size is personal choice. Go to a store and touch them. Open a document or an app and see how it fits in the screen at a readable font size, etc. Think about whether you are going to use it around the house, or whether it really needs to be small and portable. I have an ipad Air 2, the middle size point. It's been on sale more recently because there is a new model coming out. If you want the latest and greatest, just wait a couple more weeks. If you want more of a deal, check prices for an Air 2 at various places.
Slache
I've finally decided to break down and buy my iPad, but after looking I've decided on a Galaxy Tab A with the 9.7" screen. You can run two apps at once it has a slot to add more memory.

Get one with the most memory you can possibly afford. The extra money spent will be worth it.
Alessandra
We have 3 iPads. An older iPad 3 with 64GB, still works fine, enough memory for dd, but I ran out of memory when I somehow accumulated close to 300 apps, lol. My iPad Air, 128 GB, lovely. iPad Air 2, 64 GB, bought refurbished from Apple for Ds, who keeps most things on Cloud. He buys extra storage for 99 cents per month. He makes a hot spot with his phone if he needs wifi when there is none. We have looked often at minis, but they seem too small for movies. Have not seen the Pro, above my budget, alas. I think you would be happy with an Air or Air 2, Minimum 64GB. Apple refurbished are like new and come with I year warranty, iirc. I would not buy the iPad's with cellular access, because you can get wifi most places, and a cellular subscription costs money. Don't forget to include a case in your budget. And probably a stylus. You can run two apps at once it has a slot to add more memory. Newer iPads can run two apps at once as well, as long as the apps in question were created to use the latest operating system features. Honestly I don't use the 2 apps at once feature often, usually just to slide over to my calendar before answering a question in email, for example. The Android App Store and the Apple App Store have similar apps, but they're not identical. If you have an Android phone, you might prefer an Android tablet, and similarly iPhone and iPad will share apps and "user feel" as well.

Thank you so much! I asked someone at the apple store and they said they couldn't. I will strongly reconsider a refurbished Air now. Thanks! JanetC
Thank you so much! I asked someone at the apple store and they said they couldn't. I will strongly reconsider a refurbished Air now. Thanks! Note the restriction to newer iPads : you need an Air 2 for full multitasking. The Air only has slide over, where the bottom app is paused while you use the app you slide to. Here is info in what's available on which device. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202070
