ktgrok
Anyone have a DH on lexapro who has issues with um, finishing up their cup of TeA? He has no problem with performing, in fact his stamina kind of astounds me, and his interest level is VERY HIGH (thinking this might be from all the weight I've lost...he keeps touching me whenever I walk by, lol) but he can't seem to finish! I feel so badly for him! All that interest, but no climax at the end! Google tells me this is really common. He could try switching to a different med I guess, but this works perfectly for him, it's SUCH an improvement. And he is starting a new job soon, i don't think he wants to be messing with new drugs and new side effects during that process. At the same time, this isn't an acceptable thing either! The inter webs tell me you can cut the pills in half, to get a 5mg dosage instead of 10mg, so we are thinking he's going to try that. (they make a 5mg, but he doesn't want to bother getting a different prescription, and the pills are scored) If he starts getting anxious again he can bump back up, but at least it is the same drug so no weird surprises. I told him to call his doctor about this but he's really hesitant about doing that....his doctor is kind of stodgy and I guess he just feels weird. But he's okay with me researching here and on the internet. Anyone else deal with this and find a way around it? He's been on the medication a while now, and it isn't every time that this happens but it is most of the time. He'd hoped the side effect would go away the way the other ones did (nausea mainly) but that hasn't happened.
RebeccaS
My dd started Lexapro a few months ago (we're still trying to get her stabilized) and something that was stressed with me is that this drug takes time to work and work well and they recommend that adults stay on it for at least a year to get things worked out first before stopping it. (Thus eliminating the yo-yo, feel better, go off, feel bad go back on) So, I'd be reluctant to make changes in dosage without the doctor's input. That said: I was on Lexapro years ago and that was a big issue for me. It stunk because it made me not really want to even start anything if I was just going to end up being super frustrated. So, I think he really needs to talk to his doctor but I also know how uncomfortable it can be. YMMV.
SparklyUnicorn
Very very common side affect with any of those types of drugs. It stinks, but I don't know of any fix for that and if he is doing well on the drug I probably wouldn't mess with it. He possibly could go off it after some time. If he is very bothered, he could ask to try another drug in that category.
ktgrok
So, just realized he's been taking it about an hour before um, attempting the act. So when blood level is highest. Going to try to have him wait and take it after any activity in the bedroom and see if that works! I thought he WAS taking it after, but he's not.
