Google Hangouts question

Would Google Hangouts be a good choice to host a free conference call kind of discussion? I was thinking of hosting a book club online with some of our support group families.

 

Would there be a better, free platform?

My family uses Hangouts for a weekly video chat and it works great. We usually have 5-6 people. My sister sometimes has issues because of her super slow internet, but if she turns her camera off that helps.

Skype? Discord? Curse? They all work well with multiple people.

Do you know the max number who can be on it?

I'm not sure if there is a max number.

 

It's very easy to toggle the camera off. I'm not sure if there is a way to keep others from turning on their webcams.

I think skype has a limit on how many people you can call at once for free.

It does have a limit of 25 :/

 

But Discord can handle hundreds, from what I hear!
