charlotteb Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 DD, 15, would like to do a year long course on meteorology next year. She has completed Biology and Chemistry already, using Apologia products. They do not have a specific meteorology course, and I'm not having much luck finding any otherwise. Can someone recommend a course that they've used or are familiar with? I would prefer it to have a Christian slant, but its not 100% necessary. DD is advanced, so could also handle a college-level course online if anyone knows of any. She attends a community college for several classes, but they don't offer meteorology. Quote
Alessandra Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) I don't have curriculum ideas. But, if your dd has not already done so, she might like to build a Stevenson box/screen with analogue weather instruments. Also, some government agencies, such as NOAA, use volunteer local weather recorders. For example, you can get online plans for making snow boards and directions for measuring snowfall. I was reminded of this during the recent blizzard when I read that snow at Dulles International Airport had been measured inaccurately, lol. Edited March 4, 2016 by Alessandra Quote
Homeschoolmom3 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Have you checked out Masterbooks? They have an Intro to Metorology couse that is combined with Astronomy. (It could be a start and then you can add to it?) Came across this book that looks good. The Atmosphere: An Introduction to Meteorology, Ninth Edition 9th Edition HTH Quote
