moonsong Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) I did some work for a friend of mine in exchange they gave me a item that I really didn't want. I took it because I knew my mom would love it and it would end up helping her financially. Well, it took mom awhile to make up her mind. I didn't want to get stuck with the item so I advertised it for sale. I found a buyer they put down a deposit. Mom called to tell me she wanted the item. The buyer is part of a business and has a buyer for this item. Their client has PTSD and can greatly use the item and will be very disappointed if they don't get it. I really want my mom to have this item but I feel it isn't right to back out. I am planning on keeping my bargain with buyer. WWYD? Edited March 4, 2016 by moonsong Quote
Arcadia Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Buyer. They have already put down a deposit. If I am waiting for my mom to make up her mind, I would have said that to the buyer and call my mom for confirmation before accepting that deposit. 2 Quote
Laurie4b Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Your ethical obligation is to the buyer, PTSD or not. Did you let your mom know you were going to advertise it for sale before you did? 3 Quote
SKL Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I'd honor the contract, but maybe I'd buy my mom one too. :) Quote
moonsong Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 I'd honor the contract, but maybe I'd buy my mom one too. :) Wish I could! This is a one of a kind item that can't just be bought. Perfect for her and non replaceable for this price. I'm so kicking myself. Hoping against hope the buyer backs out on me. One can always hope right? I really wish my mom wasn't so indecisive. Quote

I told her I didn't want to get stuck with it and advertised it the day I got it. She says and I believer her that she told me the day before I sold the item that she wanted it. I guess I wasn't listening close enough. Quote
