SproutMamaK Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 In a few weeks, our homeschooling group is having a Holocaust survivor come speak to the children (parents can sign up any aged children but it's mostly directed at Grades 5-8 or so) about her experiences. We've studied WWII in general but have only touched briefly on the Holocaust. I would love for them to have a bit more knowledge about what's being discussed before then so they can fully understand what's being talked about. Does anyone have any recommendations for books or unit studies that deal with the Holocaust, preferably that are available on Amazon so I can actually get the books and go through them with the children before the end of March? Thanks! Quote
fourisenough Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 This is a WWII Unit Study (not specifically holocaust). I wonder if it could be helpful? We've just read a few of the books she uses and they are wonderful (Book Thief, Devil's Arithmetic, and Farewell to Manzanar). http://buildyourlibrary.com/new-unit-study-world-war-ii/ Quote
KarenNC Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Teaching Tolerance (part of the Southern Poverty Law Center) has one aimed at middle and high school http://www.tolerance.org/kit/one-survivor-remembers. Their materials are free to educators. Quote
