sparrow Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I'm curious if anyone has used the The Bill of Rights Institute's Documents of Freedom site for hs government, and if you did, did you supplement with a textbook? I've never taught government, but it seems pretty thorough, including quizzes and discussion handouts. I don't think we'd need a text and could just supplement with documentaries, etc. https://www.docsoffreedom.org/explore 2 Quote
Haiku Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I have not used this program (thanks for the link! I'll check it out!), but I am planning to use the text We the People from the Center for Civic Education. USHistory.org also has a free, online government book. My dd is using and enjoying their American history text. 1 Quote

We are dropping Notgrass and using this instead! We started using it last week and I am very impressed with it. I'm glad you found it useful! This is produced by the Bill of Rights Institute, which provides a variety of educator resources. http://www.billofrightsinstitute.org/educate/educator-resources/ I started poking around there, too. A wealth of information and I'm surprised I hadn't stumbled upon it before! Quote
mamakelly Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) I'd love to hear some reviews from those of you who did the documents of freedom curriculum. Did you make it a full year course? I'm looking at it for government for my senior this year. Edited September 12, 2016 by mamakelly Quote
