theelfqueen Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) And, man, this is a great idea. We've had a 15 minute break time in our schedule but I decided we'd go for a 10-15 minute walk followed by a quick snack instead of open-ended. I think this is going to be good. Of course the weather right now is fantastic... talk to me again when it's March (our snowiest month) and winter rears its nasty head again. This is not super educational or bonding time. We both put on our own headphones and only talked about which direction to go... and you know what, that was great. I listened to a podcast, he listened to music. We both got a bit of air and sunshine. We stopped to gawk at the neighbor's geese (Which live in their front yard LOL) Edited February 29, 2016 by theelfqueen 13 Quote
Chrysalis Academy Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 That's a great idea. I really think we should start our day the same way. Which means we should also start it a little earlier :toetap05: 2 Quote
freesia Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Yes, my older 3 go on a walk/run every morning and boy, it makes a difference compared to when they don't go. 3 Quote
Kristie in Florida Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 We should do that. It'll be a reason to get dressed. 5 Quote
Sunshine State Sue Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 We stopped to gawk at the neighbor's geese (Which live in their front yard LOL) I have 2 sisters visiting right now. On our way to the beach today, I drove through a neighborhood only 1/2 mile away that has peacocks. I don't know exactly where they live - they roam the neighborhood. We counted more than 20! Caught one dancing for a lady too. 1 Quote
Deee Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 We need to do this, too, but I can't face it. DS15 is a bear in the mornings!!!!! Quote
theelfqueen Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 We're not doing it first thing in the morning. We're doing it at our midmorning "break time" -- around 10:15-10:30. My DS15 is pretty happy with the idea of listening to his MP3 player and doing no work for 10-15 minutes :) 1 Quote
MarkT Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 .. talk to me again when it's March (our snowiest month) and winter rears its nasty head again. You may have to invest in snowshoes  Quote
Hilltopmom Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I really miss this. I send the teens out occasionally, but we used to all go for long walks in our woods together, snow shoes in winter. I can't go anymore with a medically fragile kiddo & I'm sad that my littles won't grow up doing this with me daily. I guess I can have a teen take them once they're older. Hope you keep it up! Have fun in the fresh air:) Quote
