Anyone used an online teaching program for violin? My 9 yr old would like to start and I think this is a route I would like to look into as well as an actual teacher.

I strongly recommend a teacher, especially to start out. There are just too many details that are hard to get right without one.

There is an online program that I like, though it is more geared towards adult learners. It really can't take the place of a good teacher, but It is the best online program I am aware of. http://www.violinlab.com/mobile.php

Perhaps you can find an older violin student to work with your child, if a regular teacher is out of your price range?  A local teacher might be willing to recommend some of her top students.

I played violin for 3 years in middle school & I have been thinking about taking it up again but I do not want a teacher. Thanks for posting this link, maize.

Glad someone can use it!

I think it would be excellent for your situation.
