Athome Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Anyone used an online teaching program for violin? My 9 yr old would like to start and I think this is a route I would like to look into as well as an actual teacher. 1 Quote
maize Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I strongly recommend a teacher, especially to start out. There are just too many details that are hard to get right without one. There is an online program that I like, though it is more geared towards adult learners. It really can't take the place of a good teacher, but It is the best online program I am aware of. http://www.violinlab.com/mobile.php 2 Quote
MerryAtHope Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I agree--with violin, there are too many details to work on, sometimes requiring hands-on guidance or help with positioning. I wouldn't start with an online teacher. 1 Quote
J-rap Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Perhaps you can find an older violin student to work with your child, if a regular teacher is out of your price range? A local teacher might be willing to recommend some of her top students. Quote
journey00 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I played violin for 3 years in middle school & I have been thinking about taking it up again but I do not want a teacher. Thanks for posting this link, maize. 1 Quote
