Faithr
My middle son will turn 21 on 4/4. He just informed me that he is taking that weekend off. I am wracking my brain trying to think of something he'd like to do. He's extremely introverted. He likes the guys at work and he likes us at home and that's all he's interested in. He loves the outdoors. He also enjoys things like military history - he's especially interested in things like longbows and different types of swords, so he does like Renaissance fairs and historical reenactments. He works at a marina so anything boats is good. I have been searching fruitlessly. I thought maybe something like Ancestral Knowledge would be a good idea. I think he'd love learning that kind of thing but there's nothing for that weekend. I checked out any re-enactments, etc and no one seems to have planned anything for that weekend. Any ideas? Thanks. lmrich
Could you go on a trip to Gettysburg or DC? Is there a National or State Park within driving distance that would be fun to explore ?

Critterfixer
Is it going to be a surprise? Otherwise I'd just ask him what he would like to do.
Tsuga
Could you go on a trip to Gettysburg or DC? Is there a National or State Park within driving distance that would be fun to explore ? Yeah, there are old forts all over the country. Could you plan a hike with him with a special picnic dinner at the top? Like if you or DH hikes up there and hides a bundle with a little table and chairs or something (edit... that's too much... maybe just surprise him with the food, LOL). Around here if you left a note and it only lasted for one day, it would probably stay up there at most parks. Like with a view? When I was 16 my present was a hike with my mom to the aquarium. I still remember it! Edited February 29, 2016 by Tsuga
6packofun
How about a historical themed escape room with just family and the guys he likes at work? Does he like gaming--as in board games, etc? See if there is a gaming cafe/pub in your area and rent some tables, bring some friends. How about a local scenic railroad...take a train ride to somewhere cool? Edited February 29, 2016 by 6packofun
