displace
This is probably a long shot, but are there any mini keyboards you've used to teach typing? We're using my laptop which is "normal" for a laptop. It's smallish vs. a regular keyboard. But DS (with dysgraphia and dyspraxia) is having discomfort learning to type. We limit lessons and I'm looking to find one to plug in so it's more comfortable for him. This is a limiting factor for him learning to type. geodob
Hi Displace, When you say a 'mini keyboard'? Do you want one with 'smaller keys'? I bought one on Ebay from China, for $15 including postage. Which has tiny keys, and is 6 inches by 4 inches. It also has a touch-pad on it, and is wireless. So that you can get a keyboard with smaller keys, if that's want you want?
displace
Yes, a keyboard with even smaller keys. I'll check eBay. Not the ones for thumb typing but regular touch type, just small. Edited February 29, 2016 by displace
Arcadia
Are you near a Best Buy? There are mini keyboards that people used to bring around as a spare. Those are like full sized keyboards shrink by about 1/3. We had used the SIIG ones when my kids had a desktop. There are also keyboards for ipad minis and kindles. Those keys are full size I think just without the numeric keypad at the side.
displace
Thanks for the tip. We could take a trip to one and check them out. :)
Heathermomster
I never really found a smaller keyboard for DS, so we went to a store and he helped me decide. It's funny to me how companies sell cheap looking keyboards for children that are brightly painted with larger keys spread out for adult hands while advertising STEM. Anyhoo..DS was in 5th grade at the time and settled on a simple ergonomic one. He also seemed to prefer the Alphasmart keyboard and the one on his Samsung Netbook. Maybe take your DS to the store and let him try a few.
displace
I know. I bought a kid's one and didn't realize it would be harder for him because the keys were so large.
