Mama Geek
I was into biking last summer and started having knee pain bad enough that I quit and researched enough that I am 95% sure it was the patella. I haven't had pain for a while and decided to bike a short distance today to see how it went. I had a little pain but not bad. What are the best stretches now so that maybe I can ride early next week. I want to get back into it slowly and not have problems again. nevergiveup
No idea about the stretches but maybe your bike isn't the right fit?
Mama Geek
No idea about the stretches but maybe your bike isn't the right fit? I have rode it in past years and not had the problem, so that might be it but, I don't know.
Annie G
Might be worth it to adjust your seat height. I ride a bike that I bought in...gasp...1992. And two years ago suddenly I had knee pain like you're describing. The bike shop adjusted it, saying something about the geometry of my knee and the crank. In any case, it's better now. And it was free, so maybe worth a shot.

MEmama
I'd start with making sure the fit is right, as PPs have mentioned. Biking is a great way to strengthen knees and shouldn't cause pain there unless somethings up (typically fit). Take it to your local bike shop and have them fit it for you. They should be able to help you troubleshoot based on your descriptions of the pain you are experiencing.
MEmama
I hope this link works. It's a GCN video on how to fit your bike. It's my son's favorite YouTube channel. :)
