I am trying to figure out if someone unfollowed my family member. What if they get notifications for a mutual group with a read by at the bottom - and it shows they saw/read every single post in the group except the one my family member posted to the group? It doesn't show they read only that one out of all of them. Also, they suddenly stopped liking all (infrequent) posts after liking 100% previously. It isn't a situation where we can ask. I am just asking if the not read facebook group notification is "evidence". Would they not receive a notification for a post to a group if it was posted by someone they unfollowed?

If they are both in a group together and have notifications setup so that they receive group notifications then it shouldn't matter if they are friends or following each other. I'm in groups with lots of nonfriends (state wide homeschool group for example). When I had the notifications set up to get notified whenever anyone posted I woudl see everything regardless of if I was fb friends with the person.

Do they not interact with this person a lot? I know that fb has weird algorhythms and will only show you certain people's posts-even if you are friends and following them. They try to guess what will make your feed better. Perhaps that is what's going on?

its just weird that the only facebook group post not viewed was the one she posted. otherwise maybe her personal posts weren't seen - even after liking every single one last semester?

I'm not sure, but could the person have blocked your family member? We have a couple of ladies on one of our group where one blocked the other on FB. I get calls sometimes because the blocker commented on a post, and the blockee sees that the blocker said something (because other people are obviously responding to some comment) and she wants to know what the blocker said. However, it appears to me that neither the blocker or the blockee can see any post the blocker or blockee have originally posted. They can see posts others have posted, but not the comments that either one make.

I hope that makes sense. It is super confusing to me. I have no idea what led to this condition, nor do I want to know.

No, it's not evidence.  I get facebook notifications when using Google Chrome (or my Kindle Fire) that allows me to see the whole message.  When I log onto facebook the next time, the message shows up as a new message notification.  Since I've already read the message, unless I need to reply, I remove the notification and go about my business, ignoring the message.

So, though I've actually seen and read the whole message, facebook does not think that I have and won't mark it as such.  This works in both messages and in FB groups.  Also, for FB groups, I have to actually GO to the FB page or do some other action to the Group page message in order to appear as "So-and-so saw this message".  If it simply shows up in my feed, it doesn't automatically register me as having seen it.

You can set up groups to only send notifications when friends post, so if everyone but this person is on their friend list they could be getting notifications for everyone else's posts but not for a person they unfriended.

The "Seen by" thing on group posts is just a number, though, right? I don't think it will say "seen by so and so" so how do you know who that count is referring to? Unless you mean there are like 10 group members and the posts used to say "seen by 10" or "seen by all"??

If you hover over the "Seen by #" it pops up a list of all the people who have seen the post.
