cintinative Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 We used God's Great Covenant OT 1 this year and while I liked the content, we all sort of disliked the workbook exercises. I'm finding the workbook really repetitive. I am guessing the point is to get the info into their brains but for my youngest it is just producing a lot of whining. I anticipate next year will be a lot more writing work so I am wondering if I can try something different. Does anyone have experience with Starr Meade's stuff (God's Mighty Acts of Salvation, etc.) that you can let me know what that looks like? I am leaning toward something that is more discussion/oral and less fill-in-the blank. Another option is to use GGC and not use the workbook but maybe do some dictation or something. I have GGC NT 1 that I could use. Thoughts?? TIA!! Quote
Ms.Ivy Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) I use GGC completely orally. I just use the teacher's manual and read aloud. One day I read the lesson story from the manual, the next day I read the chapters from the Bible (sometimes 2-3 days on this) and then on the last day I verbally quiz the kids using the info on the worksheets as a guide. Sometimes I throw in a review. I have my kids raise their hands if they know an answer, and the youngest hand raiser answers. My kids are competitive so it works for us. Haha I really like the teacher's notes in the manual, so I'm sticking with GGC. We're almost done with the 2nd book. Edited February 26, 2016 by Ms.Ivy 2 Quote

It's pretty much what I've been considering doing for next year, and now I've got confirmation that it can work! I've been seriously considering GGC, but didn't want to add another workbook. Do you use an of the supplemental materials, or just the Teacher's Guide? (maps, timeline, audio) 1 Quote
