Momto6inIN
I have a Canon Image Class MF 4890 dw and I love it. But when I print up a big batch of stuff - say, 4 MM worktexts and 2 Mind Benders books and CT in USH, and whatever else I need for 4 students for a school year :) - I can easily go through 2 cheap knockoff cartridges just on that printing alone. The Canon ones are much more expensive but they say they last longer. Anybody have any real life experience to tell me one way or the other? Thanks! Arcadia
I had a Canon multifunction laser. The original did last longer but you do pay more than using knockoffs. Using two to three knockoffs could be cheaper than one original and you get more pages printed. Our problem was with the quality control of the knockoffs. Sometimes the sensor is off and we need to reseat the laser cartridge because the printer thinks there is insufficient toner left. Sometimes it leaks which means reprinting the spoilt page. We bought the knockoffs from office supply stores so we could get an exchange if there is a quality issue because they don't show up within the first week sometimes.
Pen
I have a different Canon printer, ink, not laser, and in my experience the non Canon cartridges have been fine for most purposes. I've not done an exact check on how long they last, but don't have the feeling that it is extremely different than the Canon ones. I do keep a few genuine Canon ones for if I want to do something with better quality, potentially, but have not even noticed much difference in that. I have noticed that using settings for "fast" not so high quality print, if you have that option, uses up a lot less ink than the slower higher quality print setting.
Momto6inIN
I'm not too concerned with high quality. So I guess I'll just suck it up and continue to print with the knockoffs. Oh, well, it's still cheaper than buying new, right? :)
