I have four children, none of the others had this problem.

My ds2's diapers stink! Even if it's just urine. They smell so bad. Even cleaned, his bottom still has an odour.

the only way for him to not smell, involves a bath. But that isn't practical after every diaper change!

I'm hoping within the next couple months you'll be potty trained, but we aren't there yet . So can someone help me out in the meantime ?

Why does he stink? What can be done about it?

I agree, you should speak with your doctor.

If everything checks out medically, is there something in his diet that could be causing it? When dd was a toddler we gave her a certain brand of fish oil that made her pee absolutely reek. Supplements and foods can definitely be a factor.

I would try changing diaper brands. I can't stand the smell of wet pull ups, which seems like should have the same absorbant chemicals as diapers, but they smell different to me.

Another thing, is it possible he has a UTI?

If he's that close to potty training, I'd be tempted to start early.

Cloth or disposable diapers?  If cloth, then the fault could be in the diapers, not his bottom. They might have some residual stink and need a really good couple washes in hot water etc.

If disposable, he could have a low level yeast infection that is stinky. Those diapers can really hold in air and moisture. Do you let him walk around with a bare butt on occasion?

Do his pants stink as well? Again, it could be a laundry issue in his pants etc.

I get smells stuck in my nose, and I love this spray for baby butts. It's soothing and can be used with cloth. No staining. No creams. http://www.amazon.com/Kissaluvs-Diaper-Lotion-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B002UD6C16/I don't know why it's been discontinued, but it's still available on amazon.

If it's more than just a lingering aroma, check into yeasties or a UTI or some other medical issue. Really foul smelling poop and urine can be symptoms of an illness.
