Popular Post Catwoman
I'm finally back! I'm so sorry I haven't posted any updates, but I have been going a little crazy trying to live in a hotel, take dh back and forth to all of his appointments, look at about a bazillion real estate listings every day hoping to find something new and wonderful (or even pretty decent) for us to buy, then going to see a ridiculous number of houses and condos that are for sale (while trying to familiarize myself with the different towns and neighborhoods at the same time,) all while still trying to run our business remotely and deal with my stupid migraines. I have honestly been just too tired to post. I know that once I get here, I start reading a bunch of threads and then a few more... and the next thing I know, I haven't done any of the stuff I was supposed to do. Thankfully, my dh is doing very well. He has to go for appointments twice a week, and he also has physical therapy a few times a week, and the doctors have to keep experimenting with his medications and dosages based on his twice-weekly bloodwork. We have to get up at around 5:00am on his appointment days and we are at the hospital until around noon, which is pretty tiring, especially for a night owl like me because I end up getting about 2 hours of sleep on appointment days. I try to go to bed early, but I can't sleep until around 3:00 anyway. I keep thinking I'll get used to getting to sleep earlier, but it's not working. But the great thing is that the doctors are amazingly good and we also like his post-transplant coordinator a lot, so if the only thing I have to complain about is having to get up early a few days a week, I really don't have anything to complain about, right? This whole thing has been such a whirlwind, and thank goodness we have an excellent employee who is running the office back home. She was so much help to me while dh was in the hospital and when he first got out but wasn't ready to deal with work stuff, because I could give her instructions on what needed to be done and she could keep me up to date on which clients needed to talk with me and what could wait a while. It was hard to stay on top of everything, but she was so organized and helpful, which I really needed because I was so focused on worrying about dh. Dh is now working remotely from our hotel suite, which is taking some of the pressure off me, but it's so hard not being in a real house. If I had known the area better in advance of all of this, it would have made house-hunting a lot easier. We had an offer accepted on a very nice house in the perfect location, but the inspection showed a lot of major problems including some structural issues, so we had to back out of the deal. It was so disappointing, because we found it very early on, and it would have made everything so much easier. So I keep looking. And looking. And looking. And it's hard because I don't want dh to overdo it, so we can't always go running out to see new listings immediately, so we have missed out on a few very nice places. And since this will only be a part-time house for us, I need to find something low maintenance... and it needs to not need any renovations because I can't have a bunch of workers coming in and out of the house while dh is so immunosuppressed. (Also, I'm not up to dealing with doing work on a house now anyway!) Anyway, that's my long and rambling update. Again, I'm so sorry I haven't popped in to post an update, but my brain has been completely fried. Maybe it's just that I'm coming down from all of the stress of my dh's transplant and spending 24/7 in the hospital, and then sneaking in to check on him 10 times a night when he got back to the hotel because I was worried that something might go wrong, but even now that he is feeling much better, I'm still exhausted. And don't even get me started on trying to cook in a hotel suite with a two burner stovetop. :svengo: I bought what may very well be the world's biggest convection toaster oven thing, so that's helping a little, but it's still a colossal nuisance to try to make real meals. But I have to do it because dh needs to eat extra-well so he can regain his strength and put a few pounds back on. Okay, I'll stop whining now! I hate to complain about stuff because in reality, it's all meaningless because the only thing that really matters is that dh is doing well. I just keep hoping he will stay on the right track and that the doctors will be able to manage his medications so he doesn't reject the new liver, and that he doesn't get a lot of weird side effects from the medicines. But I have to admit that sometimes I let the day to day nuisances get to me more than I should! Thanks so much for thinking of me and for all of your thoughts and prayers. Now that things are finally settling into more of a routine (except for the house thing,) I should be able to be here more often.

Will definitely keep your other needs in prayers too and hope things work toward getting better stress-wise. So glad to hear you have a trusted employee back home! Lady Florida.
Wonderful news about your dh! I almost didn't open the update because I didn't expect you to have responded. I'm so glad things are going well for him. Also, that employee is definitely a keeper. Just because the other problems are small when put in perspective doesn't mean they aren't stressful. Here's hoping you can find the right house and get out of that hotel room. All in all - :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:
