redsquirrel Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 It's going to be a looong day. I had to get up at 4:45 to take DH to the airport. It's a very short drive (up the hill and down the hill, lol) but I could NOT get back to sleep when I got home. I can usually eek out a couple hours of sleep after taking him up, but not today. And it's not a quiet day. We have school, I have to remember to take ds2 to a chiro apt, I MUST go grocery shopping or there will be no dinner, only now I have to take ds2 with me, I have to deal with after school rigmarole with ds1 (get him snack, get him off to ballet) then ds1 has a music lesson at 7:30 and I have to bring ds2 along b/c dh is out of town. It's just a 30 min lesson and it's 10 min away, but...it's harder for everyone. And then I have all those evening chores to make sure everyone can get up and out and do school tomorrow morning. And put ds2 to bed and read to him b/c dh is gone and that is his job. I know..it could be worse. I could have a toddler, I could have or not have a lot of things. It's not like my life is difficult. But, so little sleep... How do I do this? Right now I am just sort of slumped in front of the computer while ds2 does math. I am wearing what I slept in. I usually limit myself to 2 cups of coffee in the am, but I am considering a LOT more. My eyes hurt, lol Quote
Spryte Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Ouch. An IV of coffee to roll around with you? 1 Quote
MEmama Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Can you get some fresh air? Perhaps a family walk or hike instead of some schoolwork? Do you catnap? If not, I'll volunteer to take one on your behalf today. ;) Good luck. I'd have a hard time functioning as well. Quote
fairfarmhand Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I'd rather have an out of the house busy day on no/little sleep than a sort of busy one where I have to listen to a first grader read aloud and try to get moving in the house. As long as I stay moving, I'll be okay. 1 Quote
momacacia Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 The upside is that if you don't drink too much coffee, you'll have an easy time falling asleep at well before midnight tonight. ;) Quote
redsquirrel Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 The upside is that if you don't drink too much coffee, you'll have an easy time falling asleep at well before midnight tonight. ;) sadly, that never true for me. I will wake up at 9 or 10pm and not be able to get to sleep before 1am. It's just how my brain is wired. If I am very tired I will fall asleep between 12:30-1am. Quote
kroe1 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I work nights, 12 hour shifts no less, and homeschool days. Five hours would be heaven for me. There is plenty of time to sleep when you're dead. Quote
