AggieMama Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 My DD5 is approaching the early chapter book stage. She is intimidated by tre number of words on the page of Magic Treehouse, Judy Moody, Junie B. Jones, etc. She is currently finishing up the Princess in Black Series and I think I'm going to get her on the Katie Woo series next to continue building her confidence. She reads really fast and skips over words and doesn't always take the time to sound out the words. I'm working on fluency at a lower level. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for highly illustrated (every page practically) beginning chapter books? Quote
WahM Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 The scholastic branches books are highly illustrated and are at about a second grade level. 1 Quote
maize Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 The Kingdom of Wrenly series is delightful and perfect for that stage. http://www.amazon.com/The-Lost-Stone-Kingdom-Wrenly/dp/1442496908 1 Quote
Chelli Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Mercy Watson series is very similar to The Princess in Black books as far as the ratio of pictures to text. Plus Mercy Watson is really funny! Quote
