3girls4me
Hi ladies Has anyone done the Bravewriter Kidswrite Basic online class? If so, what are your thoughts? My 2nd grader is dying to take an online writing class and is begging for homework! She wants to write stories and wants a class. I've read most of the Writers Jungle and love Julie's periscopes, but right now we don't use BW for anything. I'm also open to suggestions for other fun classes she could take. I prefer short term. Thanks! Edited February 10, 2016 by Pdriskell
Pen
Yes. My son got a lot out of it. The focus is not writing stories, but rather nonfiction, and the youngest child in his group was around 9, though your child may be advanced enough for it at a younger age. The children taking it were mainly reluctant writers, not gung ho writers. They may have a more suitable class for her age, enthusiasm, and desire for fiction--perhaps a fan fiction class. umsami
I did the Just-So stories class with my then 11 and 9 year old. I didn't like how it was all a bulletin board based class. (Not sure if KidsdWrite Basic is the same.) I think they would have gotten a lot more out of having actual lectures...even if pre-recorded. I will say that the teacher was wonderful in giving feedback....and I learned a lot myself just by reading her feedback and seeing what she focused on and how she phrased it.
