1GirlTwinBoys
I test drove one over the weekend and REALLY liked it. I would love to have opinions on this model but don't know anyone personally that drives this. I'm also looking at a Toyota Highlander. plansrme
The Acadia is the same car as the Buick Enclave. I had a 2012 Enclave that I bought new but sold after two years. I usually run the wheels off of my cars, but I only drove the Enclave for about two years and 60K miles. During that time, the thermostat went out, at 5 PM on a Friday afternoon while I was out of town. i had to stay in North Carolina an extra night and beg a Firestone-like outlet to bring in a mechanic on Saturday morning. THEN, at just over 60K miles, the rack and pinion went out. Have you ever heard of such a thing? It turns out to be a known problem with the Enclave, Arcadia and Traverse--the r&p goes out between 60 and 70K miles, just after the warranty is up. Buick refused to do anything, so I paid to have it fixed by our regular mechanic. I was livid, but I paid and then immediately sold the car and used the proceeds to buy a Toyota Venza. I would google steering issues in the Acadia. Maybe they've fixed them by now, but they went on for YEARS without being addressed. My experience was enough for me to swear off Buick/GMC anythings forEVER. I know stuff goes wrong, but to ignore a known issue for years is another story. EmseB
I had friends who had an Acadia that had no end of problems. Maybe they got a lemon, but after seeing how badly everything on their vehicle came apart after just three or four years I would never buy one. They got it new and were very responsible owners too, they weren't rough on it.

Rachel
I have an Acadia, I love it. There isn't much storage behind the seat so on long trips we fold down a seat. It rides a lot like my Grand Cherokee but is better for more people. It's comfortable for an adult in the middle row (we have captain chairs), my SIL rode there in a weekend trip. Three car seats in the back is tight but doable depending on the seats. There are only seat anchors in the middle of the back. We are at 112k and have had no issues. My cousin has an Enclave (Buick version) her ac went out but it wasn't an expensive repair, it may have just needed charging I'm not sure. I know one other family with an Acadia, they've been driving it 6 or 7 years and love it, they are part of why we have ours. I asked my husband about the rack and pinion problems. He said that was on '09-'12 models which we don't have. Google "known issues" and the year of the vehicle you are looking at, you can find out if there are issues with the year you are looking at buying. But if this is a new '16, "known issues" are not going to show up yet. For me, the fact that there was such an expensive and bizarre known issue for so long is enough to make me not want to do business with that manufacturer again. Of course, at some point I may be out of car manufacturers with this rule. . ..
mamajag
My brother had an Acadia and had all the problems others are listing. He sold it after 18 months, and he usually drives a car until the wheels fall off and puts them back on a few more times after that.

Our daughter totaled her vehicle on Monday. The tow guy (just awesome guy) had a Denali for sale. Said he owns two of them because of his work. He sees (obviously) a lot of accidents and they bought two Denalis right after a family member was killed in an accident and he loves them.
