Dmmetler Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 DD11 is LOVING entomology this semester, and wants to do Ichthyology/Aquatic biology next year. Does anyone have any place to start on resources? (She's had a solid high school background and reads professional herpetology journals for fun as well as is involved in herpetology research projects, but doesn't have much knowledge about the specific subject beyond what would be covered in general science through high school level-that's why entomology has been so awesome). We have access to ponds, lakes, a couple of rivers and streams of various sizes (including the Mississippi, although we're not likely to be sampling much beyond water at the edge there due to size), and wetlands, but not to anything salt water, so Marine bio resources aren't super useful. We'll be going to the Joint Meeting of Icthyologists and Herpetologists this summer as part of DD's mentoring program, so there's a very good chance we'll be able to pick up materials there-if we know what to look for (and we may try to go to some of the fish tracks, but that will depend on scheduling and what herp stuff is going on).
