Janeway
Would you ever...if you already used another program and your child is already in 6th grade, would you ever consider going back and picking up some of the levels in Beast Academy because it has different topics that have not been covered in what you used? I kind of want to do that, but wonder if it would be a waste. Plus, he passed the test for preAlgebra readiness, but he does not want to do the textbook for preAlgebra. I thought Beast Academy would be more fun. It feels like there is overlap from Beast Academy and AoPs preAlgebra.
deerforest
My daughter is already in pre-algebra (we use a mix of things, including modified AoPS), but she started with BA when it first came out and loves it so I keep buying them. 2/3 of the 5A book were very easy. I've completely ignored geometry for the most part so we had some new learning in the solids chapter. But, you can easily see the foundation that they are building in BA that leads to AoPS. But, I can't really imagine taking the time now to go back and do it.

sweetpea3829
Hmm....depends on the kid. I mean....as an additional supplement? Yes, sure. Probably from 3rd grade up. But I would not JUST do BA at that point. You could probably do it as a fun summer review program.

lamolina
i'm wondering this same question for a child who has just completed Saxon Course 1, which is their 6th grade math. She is a somewhat average to weak math student and I am thinking about doing Beast with her younger brother. I thought it may be a good review for her and also a new way to look at things that Saxon definitely does not do!
SparklyUnicorn
No I wouldn't.
Roseto27
Do you guys take a break for summer or do school year round? I can see it being a great summer bridge program, but I don't know that I'd spend another full school year on it at this point. If you want to do all 4 books of level 5 (A-D), it might be more intensive than you want for summer work. However, if that's all you'll be doing, it might be ok. My guys love it and constantly ask to do more than I require. We actually did extra today bc they don't mind doing it on Saturday! Of course, ymmv, but if you think she'd benefit and that it's worth the time spent, go for it.
