gardenmom5 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) new laptops (especially 2-in-1s) don't come with ethernet ports. :scared:  :willy_nilly: :willy_nilly: :willy_nilly: talk about MAJOR freak out . . . apparently, you can get an adapter that sticks in a usb port, and then hook the ethernet into that. :chillpill: calm down time. . . . now, to figure out which size (yeah, they come in "different" speed capacities  ) I'm leaning capable of faster speeds than not . . . AK_Mom4 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Some do, some don't. Assuming you have a wireless card in the notebook that can handled wired transmissions, the actual USB-rj45 connector is about $3. If you need to buy an external wired Ethernet device, yes - buy the fastest one you can afford. Or buy a cheap wireless hub/router and plug that into your wired Internet and use the laptop wireless.
