Arch at Home Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I had my DD work through about 3/4 of it prior to bailing for Building You Future by the Acturial Foundation. LOF was not sufficient for a semester plus it was very biased toward a entrepreneurial, stop working by the time you are 40 (or something like) that approach. It spent very little time on the basics of checking accounts, loans, career choices and similar which was covered by Building Your Future. BYF is a free download. There is probably enough for a semester though I supplemented with some Girl Scout badge work. Sarah Quote
cbollin Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 We read through LoF Financial Choices as a supplemental reading in the summer. (blah is my review) I agree with arch's at home description of the book. We didn't find it very practical for everyday life for high school student. definitely not the content that I wanted to cover. not approach I wanted. but I couldn't tell that from samples. looking forward to putting it on selling table this spring. For our main course, we ended up using moneyskill.org (free resource.) along with having project of balancing family checkbook and helping with filing taxes and fafsa. budget making. another free download out there is hsfpp.org high school financial planning program. You might have to email their customer service to get help with registration. It can be online. or they'll send you printed copy free. I looked over it, but went with moneyskill out of ease of use issues with us. Quote
