hands-on-mama Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Hi all! We are in the process of switching to Singapore. I have the HIG, WB and TB. How often do you work in the CWP and IP. Quote
EKS Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I would have my son do a few problems in the CWP each day. We used it a year (or maybe it was a semester) behind. The IP didn't work well for us, so I stopped using it early on. Quote
forty-two Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I do both CWP and IP a semester behind. We do one or two pages of CWP a day, and as much of IP as can be done in 30 min. (Ideally I would like to do both CWP and IP each day, but sometimes I end up alternating - CWP one day and IP the next.) Quote
sweetpea3829 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 We assign "Problem-Solving" twice a week and I usually pull from CWP (beginning this year, I'm pulling a year behind). As for IP...I used it much more in the lower grades, but DS9 hasn't used it much in 3rd and 4th. I will likely assign quite a bit of the IP for his summer school as review. He's doing so many math things right now...I have too much. Beast Academy, all of the Singapore books (including Process skills), Prodigy Math, Khan. I like having those options to mix it up. 2 Quote
sunshineslp Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I just started SM Standards and plan to use FAN with it. Anyone else? Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:) Quote

sweetpea3829 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 FAN is, I believe the Process Skills in Problem Solving. Yes, we use that quite a bit. Quote
Raifta Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 We use the CWP and IP about half a year behind and usually about once a week they will go through one whole section in it but I don't assign all the problems (this way I can use it the first go around for child one and then a second time for child two). We are mostly using it as review. Quote
Monica_in_Switzerland Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 We don't use IP. CWP we use as review when we are in the easier chapters of the WB (graphics, measurement, etc.) Quote
sunshineslp Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Yes FAN is the Process Skills:) I had been told it was easier to use than CWP because FAN teaches each step whereas CWP expects that you know what you're doing and there is no instruction. I'm not sure as I've not seen the CWP but I do like FAN. Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:) 1 Quote
hands-on-mama Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 Thank you! I think that sounds good for her! Problem solving is not her strong suit yet. We are using Singapore a level down to get her used to the method. I think she could have gone in to 2a at the least, but I wanted to build her confidence up and give her time to mature. We may do the IP AND CWP over the summer. 1 Quote
visitor Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 We also work with IP, CWP . I stopted with FAN because it was TO easy for DS. He liked CWP more Quote
Porridge Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 We do one page of CWP per day. We do not have IP, we had the regular workbook but sometimes it is too easy Quote
Steven Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 During the school year, we used only the textbook and workbook. Over the summer I would use the IP books for review. I did not assign all of the problems, only enough to ensure that things were not forgotten. Since the IP book has word problems, I did not find it necessary to buy CWP. Quote
hands-on-mama Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Is there an IP book for Standards or just the US version? Quote
visitor Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) Is there an IP book for Standards or just the US version? Only for the US version but you can use it with the stardard edition Edited January 23, 2016 by visitor 1 Quote
