Amateur Actress Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Math-U-See seems to fit this criteria. We JUST started using their geometry 2 weeks ago but my son likes it. There is a DVD to watch, but also written lessons, for each lesson. The only thing I'm not entirely sure about is if it has a fully written out solutions manual...I have the manual, but don't remember off-hand. New, the geometry costs around $80, but I got mine used for $35. 1 Quote
ProudGrandma Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 I will look into this option....Thanks. Quote
freesia Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 We used the older version of Teaching Textbooks. I really like it. The solutions aren't written out, but you can see the solutions taught on the solutions CD. Quote
HomeschoolingHearts&Minds Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Math-U-See. My son is using it now and is 2/3 through it. Yes, there are explanations of the answers in the back of the instructor manual for lesson practices and review sheets. Not every answer is explained in detail, but in cases where the student needs to set up an equation and figure something out, the steps are shown. There are chapter tests and unit tests (every 10 lessons, I think). For each new lesson there are 2 lesson practices, 3 "systematic reviews" where the student reviews that lesson and previous material, and an "honors" sheet that tends to focus on real world applications. DVD to teach the lesson, but the lessons are fully explained in the instructor manual. Simple, uncluttered pages. The tests are multiple choice. My son likes the no-nonsense approach. I do teach the material using the instructor guide, only occasionally referring to the DVDs. My son just prefers it that way (more interactive). Edited to correct something I mis-remembered. Mom22ns Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I used MUS to meet those same criteria. Quote
