have you ever heard of such a thing? my daughter's eye

one day on Christmas break my daughter (15) woke up one morning complaining that the white part of her right eye aches when she blinks.  I thought it was odd, but didn't give it much thought.  She also was coming down with a cold and had a sore throat, so I gave her a Motrin for that.  Her eye seemed to feel better after that.  No more pain after that.  And then, this past Sunday, she woke up...same thing...but this time no cold...she took a Motrin...helped a bit...but not much.  She woke up on Monday...pain was all gone.  Woke up Tuesday, pain was back.  Woke up this morning...still in pain. So we went to the eye doctor today.  After a complete exam (plus a battery of tests) he came up with nothing.  He is sending us on to a specialist  on Friday.  So before then, I want to try to figure out what might be going on and what types of questions or concerns I should raise with the doctor on Friday.

If you have any ideas for me, I would be so thankful.

I've had an issue with pain in just one of my eyes.  It comes and goes almost like an allergy but it isn't due to allergies.  It feels like its swollen or very sore for a day or two. I was in the military when it started and no doctor could ever give me a diagnosis. About 15 years later (after my fourth child was born), it suddenly stopped happening.  It's been five years.  I hope your dd's turns out to be nothing serious.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but I've been having pain off and on in my left eye. I'm not sure as I would describe it as the white of my eye, the whole eye, behind my eye etc. I have severe anxiety when it comes to anything medical, so I'm trying not to search on Google etc. Lol

I am hoping it is allergies. It also seems to happen if I'm really low on sleep or drink caffeine. I went to the eye Dr about 8 yes ago for a different problem and he said it was prob because I was sleeping with my eye open or not sleeping enough.

I get that feeling when I have a clogged gland.

I have chronic dry eye and blephritis.  I don't get the white crusties from the blephritis, but I do get the swollen glands.  They rub on the eye and it hurts. Sometimes it makes the whites of my eye sore, and sometimes it feels like there is an eyelash in there, when there isn't anything there.  It is because it is a clogged gland on the back side of the lashes  (inside of the eyelid) .

For me it comes and goes when the Meibomian gland clogs/unclogs.

If I catch it right away, eye massage and hot compresses work.  I have to make sure to take extra omega-3, an anti-inflammatory like naproxen for discomfort, and zero antihistamines when it is hurting.

It bothered me for a long time off and on. It would go away but then I would mention it to the doc at my appointment. They didn't know exactly what was wrong by my description. One time I was able to go in right away when it was bothering me, and they could see the swollen gland to make an official diagnosis.

Possibly iritis? Although I would think the eye doctor would have caught that. I have had it several times and it comes on quite suddenly and is very painful. I have extreme light sensitivity and the actual eyeball hurts all over. It feels hard to the touch, like there is a lot of pressure in the eye.

My DH had iritis which caused swelling around his iris.   Most optometrists don't recognize it, but an ophthalmologist should (this site explains the difference).  If there is no recent trauma, you need to make sure that your primary care tests for larger issues - in DH's case the swelling of his iris was the first sign of an a nasty version of arthritis, and catching it early saved him from having major issues with his bones fusing.
