sheryl
There are 3 people I'm individually giving money to and hope it's a blessing to them. One is a former co-worker of dh's. This man has been out of work since Aug. 2014. Through my dh and a mutual friend with this man, the recipient rec'd. his gift. Another was a woman in my Bible Study group. I asked the leader of that group to give this other recipient the money and she did. The 3rd person is a personal friend of mine. I asked a mutual friend but she dropped the ball. Dh has a p.o. box that he uses for his side business. If I do send cash in the mail (which I'd rather not do but I can't find anyone to serve as the go-between and I'm staying anonymous in all of these situations), and I use my dh's po box as a return address - is there a way for my friend to ask the PO staff to whom the box belongs and find out it's ours? Look forward to hearing especially from anyone who may work for the p.o, Thanks. Edited January 20, 2016 by sheryl
MercyA
Is your husband's P.O. box address online anywhere? If so, it would be pretty easy for your friend to google it. If you're sending it via regular first class mail, a return address isn't required.
Jean in Newcastle
Why don't you just leave off a return address?
sheryl
Mercy, How silly of me. I forgot that and, yes, it's on his website. But, I don't know if my friend would think to or actually piece it together. Jean, b/c it's money. Is it lame to ask her to write back to the po to lmk she rec'd it? Oh dear, the only other option, it seems, is to find someone at her church (we go to different ones).
Momto4Js123
Can you just stick it in their mailbox?
sheryl
Can you just stick it in their mailbox? DD and I were just talking about that. We maybe could put it inside their door right after church. I don't know. I guess I'd rather know someone actually handed it to them. This is turning out hard! happi duck
Maybe you can be the "mutual" friend, "someone asked me to give this to you". If you don't want to " lie" have your dh ask you!
Jean in Newcastle
I don't have the details on this and you will have to call the post office to ask, or go to their website, but I believe that you can get a money order at the post office made out to the person's name so that no one else can cash it. I think you can leave your name off of it but I'm not positive. I also think you can get signature confirmation where it has to be signed by them and you can look it up online vs. having to leave an address for them to notify you.

You're supposed to fill out sender information on a money order, but nobody's ever asked me to prove mine was legit! And you can get a tracking number put on any envelope. It'll just cost more.
solascriptura
I wouldn't send cash through the mail. I've done it just a few times, for birthdays, and the money never was received.
Farrar
I think there's some way to get a bank check... I'm trying to remember. Someone gave us money this way anonymously when I was young (it was definitely a huge blessing!).
sheryl
Thanks everyone for the replies!Happi, I don't understand. What am I missing here? Please explain. Jean, I think that is the ticket. Maybe I won't leave our return address but buy a signature confirmation? Thanks mucho! :) Edited January 21, 2016 by sheryl
happi duck
This is what i mean: Sheryl: "hello friend! Someone asked me to give this to you!" *hands over envelope* Friend: "oh really? Who?" Sheryl: "they want to remain anonymous. Have a great day!" If that feels like lying you can have your dh say "Sheryl, give this envelope to friend"... then you can truthfully say someone asked you to give it to them! Annie G
Oh dear, the only other option, it seems, is to find someone at her church (we go to different ones). This sounds like a reasonable option-- go to the church office with the envelope and tell the secretary what you're doing. Ask her to have someone give it to her...like the pastor or something. You could call the church office later to make sure she got it.
zoobie
I'd go straight to the pastor of her church. The church secretary at my parents' church was the worst gossip!
