hands-on-mama Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Title says it all. :) I'm interested in seeing what everyone uses. Do you like it? Love it? Hate it? Quote
Kiara.I Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Rightstart C. Love it. (That was last year, we're using Level D in Grade 3 now.) 1 Quote
Freedom Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Math Mammoth...love it. Open and go, simple straight forward. Switched from Saxon which spiraled so much I got dizzy. 4 Quote
kalusignan Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Also using RightStart C (second edition). LOVE it! 1 Quote
sunshineslp Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Right start B, switching to Singapore standards. Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:) Quote
3 ladybugs Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Shiller Math 2, though might go to 3 by end of year. Really love it. No plan of changing. Quote
reign Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) MM and Dreambox. One kid is doing Beast too. Others weren't/won't be Beast ready for second grade. . I like them all! Edited January 19, 2016 by reign Quote
mmasc Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Rod and Staff 2. I really like it for this DS. Quote
desertflower Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 My ds has gone through Singapore math level 2. I liked it. My ds liked it. Plan to use it for my other kids as well (or Beast Academy 2). If they'll let me! lol Quote
Seeking Squirrels Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 We started out with Right Start C but switched back to Singapore. Quote
Peaceful Isle Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 For second grade math, I used BJU for my two middles and Saxon for my oldest. I really like BJU math 2. Quote
Heidi Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Cle and I love it. I used math mammoth in 2nd grade with my two oldest, and I liked that too. Quote
kiwik Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Finish Math Mammoth add and subtract 2b and place value 2 then move on to Math Mammoth 3a and fan process skills 1 about half way through the year. Quote
ondreeuh Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Math in Focus! I used it with Math Minutes and 70 Must-Know Word Problems. Quote
kiwik Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Finish Math Mammoth add and subtract 2b and place value 2 then move on to Math Mammoth 3a and fan process skills 1 about half way through the year. Quote
mamahammer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 At that age, I used Singapore for one, nothing for another (lol), and Math Mammoth for the last one. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk Quote
fourisenough Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Just about to start MM2 with DD6. I'll add in some Miquon for fun and XtraMath to drill facts. Quote
carriede Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 MM2 with c-rods and base 10 blocks when needed. I do skip around to keep things interesting - example: DS6 is doing book 2b right now, but one page from the measurement chapter one page from the addition/subtraction chapter. Quote
wendyroo Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 DS is technically in first, but has done Math Mammoth 1-3 and will probably continue on through the rest of the series. We love it. Wendy Quote
ByGrace3 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Two rounds of 2nd grade here so far -- both used Math Mammoth. 3rd will use it as well when she gets there. Quote
Miss Tick Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Finishing Miquon then to Beast Academy and/or MM. Quote
SevenDaisies Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) We use Singapore Primary Maths Standards Edition with Challenging Word Problems, and we love it. Edited January 19, 2016 by SevenDaisies Quote
73349 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 We finished Miquon purple and recently started Beast Academy 3A. Happy with both. Quote
featherhead Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 My daughter is 1st grade this year, but in public school, so I really don't know what she is learning. Next year for second we will do Miquon, and see where that takes us. Quote

ScoutTN Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Right Start C. This student needs more review so we will do MM2 before moving on. 2 Quote
Hobbes Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 MM2. We are really enjoying it - did casual math without curriculum for 1st, then transitioned to MM for 2nd. It took a few lessons to get used to the flow because it is different than other curricula I've used, but it's going beautifully now. It makes so much sense in its progression. I tend to cut out about 1/4 of the problems, depending on the topic. Quote
Mommy_of_4 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 My current 2nd grader is using Rod and Staff 2 and Life of Fred. Quote
BearWallowSchool Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 My daughter is in 2nd and we have used Abeka math from the beginning. I'm thinking of doing Rod and Staff with the next one because I like the focus on just fact learning. Quote
zarabellesmom Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 We just finished Math in Focus 2B and are moving on to Beast Academy 3A. I like Math in Focus, but I pink puffy heart Beast Academy. This will be my second time through Beast. Quote
Tumbatoo Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Singapore and Dreambox. Might go to Beast Academy for third. Quote
Rachel Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) My 2nd grader just finished 2b in Singapore Math standards edition and is about to start 3a as soon as it arrives. He is also doing Miquon one day a week. ETA yes, I like both programs. Edited January 19, 2016 by Rach Quote
Guest Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) I've done TouchMath and Calvert with oldest {had LDs}, Calvert with #2, CLE, Horizons, and R&S with #3 and #4 {not all at the same time!}. Miss Priss is going to try out McRuffy after CLE bombed for her. Edited January 20, 2016 by Paradox5 Quote
.... Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Mine uses Miquon. She loves it, so we'll continue with it next year. Quote
Zoo Keeper Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 2nd grader #1: used Miquon, Singapore, and MEP combo. Yes, *all* of all three programs. He lived through it. I was trying to rewire his brain. Didn't work. ;) 2nd grader #2: also used Miquon, Singapore, and MEP combo. Yes, *all* of all three programs. He loved it and thrived. He still likes math five years later. :) 2nd grader #3 : crashed and burned with Miquon and Singapore. He HATED the c-rods, and had a very strong aversion to all the colors and graphics in Singapore. Switched to Rod and Staff (and some of MEP) and was much, much happier. I taught R&S using rods and Singapore-like methods. 2nd grader #4: used Miquon, Singapore, MEP, and R&S combo. Really. Not as bad as it sounds. R&S was done orally (for drill and review), Singapore was the main teaching math done daily, and MEP or Miquon would happen every few weeks when she needed a change. This combo worked very well for her. My last two 2nd graders will probably use some variation of the above. Since I already have Miquon, Singapore, MEP, and R&S on the shelf... Quote
Aurelia Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 We used MM2. Not a fan. Too many worksheets and not enough review for my DD. Stuck it out through MM3, then switched to CLE 3 (still too many worksheets, but really solidified math facts and other concepts). I wish we had used something else, like RS, Miquon, or MEP. Quote
WahM Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Singapore Primary Mathmatics standards edition. We love it... So far ;) Quote
Gisel_le Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Math Mammoth and Life of Fred. Love both! We read LoF together on the couch and answer the questions orallly when possible. 1 Quote
Cake and Pi Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 RightStart C in the 1st edition and I love it! We started the year with 2nd ed. of C, but I really wasn't a fan. I much prefer 1st edition. Quote

MrsRobinson Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Math Mammoth 2 and we love it! I am not mathy at all but I really enjoy math lessons now. The progression of teaching concepts makes so much sense that I feel like Im am finally "getting it" after all these years. Dd does well with whatever I put in front of her so she dos great with MM. Quote
Mergath Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 We use MM with c-rods for our primary program and supplement with Miquon if dd needs more practice with any of the concepts. We use the Monkey Math app for fact practice, and Khan Academy if she needs further explanation or worked examples. Quote
hands-on-mama Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 Thanks everyone! I just bit the bullet and ordered Singapore standards after much deliberation. CLE just wasn't working anymore. I tried to make it work all last semester. I let her sit with me and look at samples to make the final decision. :) 1 Quote
My3girls Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 We used Math Mammoth for 2nd with a little Life of Fred sprinkled in. 1 Quote
