Explain changes to CLE highschool level math

I keep seeing that CLE is updating the higher levels of their math.  What are the changes?  Is CLE algebra changing to a textbook, or to light units?  Is the content the same, but just a change in format?  I keep seeing that people switch to another program because the new book isn't ready yet.  If my dd isn't going to reach algebra until 2017-2018, will it be ready then?  Is there something wrong with the programs they currently offer for high school math?  I can't think I've seen much posted about using it in highschool.

I love the program so much, I hate to leave something that is working well.

I thought their algebra already got updated? CLE's high school math used to be old Alpha Omega stuff and just wasn't any good. Their Sunrise Editions are the updated Light Units that are very good. So in general, if you see Sunrise Edition, you're fine. If it's not Sunrise, it's old AOP and not so hot.

I don't know the timetable for their updates, but you can probably find out on the CLE Yahoo Group. As far as I know, the Algebra is still Light Units, not a textbook.

CLE Algebra 1 has already been updated, but the higher levels of math are an older curriculum that is not considered to be as good. Algebra 1 is in the form of light units, like their lower grades, but the website does indicate that Algebra 1 will become a textbook in a couple of years. I am assuming that since they just spent time revising the program, that the textbook will have the same or similar content as the current light units, but I don't know.

DD14 is using math 800 this year, and we plan to continue into Algebra 1 next year, because CLE works for her. Unless they revise additional levels before we arrive at them, we will switch to something else after Algebra.

Yes to above posts.  I talked with them last year.  Algebra 1 was already converted to the CLE Light Units, which was not just a change in format but a change in content, as mentioned up thread.  They have been in the process of converting all of their math from an old version of Alpha Omega to their CLE Light Units (very definitely an improvement and a much better math program) for a few years now.  They are working on the higher level maths but admitted it takes quite a bit of time and were uncertain when the process would be finalized for all math levels (but they stated that Algebra II and Geometry may not be ready until after 2017, possibly well after, but were not sure how much after).  The Algebra I Light Unit version, while the updated version, is considered the preliminary format.  They intend to turn High School level material, specifically Algebra I since it has already been updated, into a textbook format by sometime in 2017.  Content should not change all that much, just the format, as I understand it, but maybe they just meant the types of problems and the approach would not change.  I don't think they meant they were sticking all the workbook style pages into one textbook.  Could be wrong, though.

In other words, OP, Algebra I is already updated and can easily be used right now, but will be converting to a textbook format in 2017.  Light Unit version might still be available after the conversion but just in case you might contact CLE to determine if you need to purchase the Light Unit version early, before the switch.
