My daughter decided kind of at the last minute (ok, really at the last minute!) to apply to Va Tech--got her app. in just before midnight last night, their deadline.

I cannot find any good information on what I need to mail in, aside from a brief statement about mailing in official or unofficial transcripts, which is not specific to homeschoolers.

In speaking with them at a local college fair they were very homeschool friendly, stating what a great experience they've had with homeschooled students.  Is it possible that this is all they want? Her transcript is filled with 3 semesters of CC classes, so maybe they won't care about course descriptions from 2 years ago.

I am trying to get together this last information this weekend, so while I can call Monday morning, I was hoping someone on here will let me know what they did, I know I saw some Va Tech acceptances on the accepted thread.

Thanks!

My oldest ds is there as a freshman this year.  I honestly can't remember what I had to mail in for them, but it definitely wasn't anything weird.  I think it was just the transcript, and I also included our school profile.  I'm pretty sure I didn't even send in course descriptions!  I can't remember a counselor letter, but there may have been one. Like I said, I remember it as being very easy!

I sent transcript, school profile and course descriptions.  Pretty much all the same stuff I'd created for the Common App.

I had a page from Va Tech that was for the counselor to submit the transcript, but I can't find the form now.  Maybe it came in an email.  I used that page as my cover sheet and sent in the other documents.

This is the form I sent in with documents for ds.  http://www.admiss.vt.edu/form-pdf/highschoolsup.pdf

I included a school profile and course descriptions, since I already had done them for Common App and because I thought it gave useful information.  I did not do the counselor ranking on the form, but explained in the cover letter that I had not ranked him, because he did not have a class cohort to be ranked against.  In the next paragraph I stated that I thought he had a good academic record and called attention to a couple courses and scores that supported the statement.

He hasn't heard from Va Tech on his application yet, but I have not seen a request for additional information.
