My father had a liver transplant 6 years ago. I stayed at the hospital with him and my mother for the entire ordeal. If you have any questions feel free to ask. The next couple of weeks are likely to be rough on you.

UPDATE: He got through the surgery, but when he got to ICU they did a follow-up ultrasound to check on the blood flow and it wasn't right so they had to take him back to surgery to figure out exactly what is going on and to fix the problem. The surgeon said they can make things right, but my ds and I are so scared. I hope we get some good news soon.

 

I'll update when I can. Thank you so much for all of your hugs, prayers, support, and encouragement. I want to respond to every single post but right now I'm too worried to concentrate on anything but waiting for the update from the surgeon.

I've been out today and just saw this. Wow, I know you've all been waiting for this day for a long time! Praying for your dh, for the surgery team, and for you and ds to have peace. I know waiting is hard! If the hospital doesn't have a Catholic priest as chaplain, surely there is a parish somewhere nearby? Priests visit hospital patients all the time. I bet one is just a phone call away. I will pray for all of you at Mass tomorrow. {{{hugs}}}}

I just saw this thread, and want you to know I am praying for your dh, ds, and you. It is a very scary and emotional time. My brother had a kidney transplant, so I know a lot of what you are going through. I pray that your dh's recovery is speedy and uneventful.
