Or planning tips?  Our 25th will be coming up soon and dh & I would maybe like to go to Hawaii or someplace else similar.  Anyway to get the best deals? Advice?  My friend is wanting to go to Cabos and someone told her that she should look at Vacationsexpress.com she did and it was a LOT cheaper than a travel agent.

We've never taken a vacation like this, so I need any help that I can get.

BTW, it would just be for the 2 of us.

We stayed at this place

Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta

a couple of years ago. (that is not a link, but you can find them on TripAdvisor)

This was a business trip so we did not set it up, but I would return there often if money and time permitted.

Lovely accommodations, decent food, and a great beach.

When we went, I'd just had surgery so it was not a go, go, go vacation. We simply enjoyed being there for four days-

There are whale tours, tequila tastings, water sports, fishing in the area. This is north Puerto Vallarta so you could go there to shop and sightsee, too.

If you go, DO get a massage on the beach--private little cabana, soothing waves....my best massage ever.

Regarding the comments by "Happy" about P.V. and other places on the West Coast of Mexico. If you go there, the Sunsets are *spectacular*.  Take a Sunset cruise.

I just want to add, dh has been the one that wanted to go to Hawaii, but looking at prices, it's a lot more expensive than other places.  I'm open to going anywhere in the Caribbean.  We did go on a cruise 3 years ago with my parents to St. Maarten, St, John & Nassau (would not go to Nassau again)

So give me the best place that you've been & would return to as well. Our Anniversary is early July, but when is the best time to take a trip?

We've stayed here in Costa Rica for just a weekend, but I know many people stay a full week.  I'm pretty sure they have some all-inclusive rates.  When we stayed, breakfast and all pools and beach space was included.  We loved it.  You can also rent a golf cart to get around in, which we thought was fun and very convenient.  It is spread out, so it's good to have either a car or a golf cart.  (They do have shuttles that take you all around, but they only run every 30 minutes.)

We stayed in one of their Selvamar standard rooms, which was basic but very nice and very clean, and cute.  It was perfect for us.  (We had two rooms.)

l'd really recommend it!

One of my friends lives in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. He sings with my favorite singer. There are a lot of resorts there. The promotional email I received from our preferred airline, LAN Colombia, today, is about a fare of US$339 round trip from Colombia.  Not sure about the weather in July. If you live where there is *COLD* weather, it would be wonderful for you to go to the Caribbean when it is very cold where you live, but that's not when your anniversary is...

There are so many places you might go to. Puerto Rico is one. Do you just want to be lazy and do nothing in the resort, or do you want to go sightseeing? If you want to go sightseeing, Puerto Rico might be a good choice.  I remember the beach, at my hotel, just North of the San Juan Airport and just East of the city. The water there was so warm, like a bathtub, that I hated getting out of the water.

Colombia has some tiny islands in the Caribbean. San Andres and Providencia, that everyone in Colombia loves, but I am not sure whether there are direct flights from Miami or somewhere else in the states.

If you consider a cruise, Disney ships, as a group, get excellent reviews.

Read up on different places and get some ideas!

If you do not want to do any exploring, an All Inclusive Resort might be the way to go.  If you want to explore, I wouldn't stay in an All Inclusive because you will have paid for a lot of things that you will not be able to use, when you are not in the resort.  Hawaii has never been inexpensive, but, if you look at renting a Timeshare for a week, that would cut your expenses a lot and I assume there are, frequently, very inexpensive airfares from U.S. cities to Honolulu, Hilo, etc.  If you were going in the Winter, I'd recommend the Caribbean, but in the Summer the weather in the Hawaii should be great too.
